Look good in the cold snap
OK, so we don’t want to be stating the obvious, but most of the country is covered in a nice thick blanket of snow. Love it or hate it it’s here to stay for the foreseeable future, but that doesn’t mean you have to lose your sense of style. You might be enjoying the chance to go back to your childhood or could be bemoaning the fact you have to drive or trudge through snow-covered streets to get to work, but with a few careful wardrobe choices you can stay looking good throughout the cold snap.
A combination of practicality and style is the order of the day, and your first consideration will be footwear. You don’t want to ruin your smart shoes and that means you’ll need to go back to basics, with a pair of wellies being ideal. Wellies have almost got a cult status these days, largely thanks to the celebs wearing them during festival season, and that means you can easily keep your fashion credentials as you try to stop yourself from falling over in the slush—you can find everything from the simple green welly boot to colourful, patterned and faux fur trimmed versions, and even wellies with wedge heels for a bit of added glam.
You’ll want to wrap up with plenty of layers too, and don’t forget the hats, gloves and scarves. You might find you need a few extra pairs of gloves to see you through the next few days—those snowball fights and snowman-building sessions will leave your gloves soaking wet, so make sure you’ve got a backup pair so you don’t get frostbitten fingers. Then, the coat. We don’t think you can beat a trusty duffle at this time of year, and during a cold snap is when it really comes into its own. It’s thick, warm and cosy, and because it’s so stylish you’ll stay looking good too. So what are you waiting for? Make sure to rummage through that wardrobe to stay stylish and warm over the next few days, and then all you’ve got to do is get out there and have fun in the snow. Enjoy!
