Wimbledon 2016: How to get the look (without going to London)

In the UK, Wimbledon is as traditional as the Queen appearing on the balcony at Buck House.

It brings to mind strawberries, cream, rain stopping play and ‘Wimbledon whites’.

And every year there’s another British tennis player with all the desperate hopes of a nation pinned firmly to his or her shoulders. This year it’s Andy Murray (again) Marcus Willis, and Joanna Konta.

Unless they’ve been knocked out by the time you read this. We’re quite good at getting knocked out of stuff.

And apart from the tennis, Wimbledon is about fashion and ‘getting the look’.

First up, the annual debate about ‘how white is white?’ and whether the ‘must wear white on court’ rules can be relaxed. Wimbledon is the only tournament to enforce an all-white dress code, and officials take it pretty seriously; Roger Federer was once prevented from wearing Nike orange soled trainers on court.

Then, the celebrity watching starts. Vogue was on the ball (ha!) from day 1 with their Celebrities-at-Wimbledon gallery. And after that came Harper’s Bazaar with their ‘What to wear to Wimbledon’ guide. And of course there’s always a debate about what the women players are wearing.

But what if you don’t stand a chance of getting a ticket to Wimbledon? If Murray’s Mound is but a distant dream?

Well, we’ve found a way for you to enjoy the feel of Wimbledon, without shelling out a fortune on a round trip to London.

It’s the online Wimbledon shop, which ships worldwide. It has pretty much everything you need to recreate the Game, Set, Match ambiance in your home. Without the din of Centre Court.
