5 things that all families do at Christmas

Posted on December 19th, 2014

Christmas is less than a week away – can you believe it? Seeing as we’re well and truly in the festive spirit here at Dufflecoats UK, we thought we’d share a little post about the things that all families seem to do on Christmas Day!

Christmas Gifts

1. Go for a family walk

We don’t know why but it seems to be a tradition for families to go for a walk on Christmas Day. Maybe we’re all trying to walk off a few extra pounds before we indulge in our Christmas Dinner! Whatever your reason for going on a family walk on Christmas Day, make sure you wrap up warm in your duffle coat, hat and scarf!

2. Nap after Christmas dinner

Eating all that delicious food can really take it out of you and you need a nap before moving onto all of the chocolates you received in your stocking!

3. Play board games

Christmas day is probably the only day of the year that your family sits down to play a good old board game. Whilst some families will be battling it out to buy London’s prime real estate in a game of Monopoly, others will be testing their knowledge in a game of Trivial Pursuit. What’s your family’s favourite board game?

4. Watch a Christmas special

Even if you don’t sit down to watch the Queen’s speech as a family, we bet you watch at least one Christmas special! From Downton Abbey and Dr. Who to Strictly Come Dancing, there’s plenty of programmes to keep you entertained throughout the evening.

5. Take the annual family photo

Of course Christmas Day wouldn’t be complete without taking the annual family photo. Beating the self-timer and trying to get a shot where everyone has their eyes open is always a real challenge but it’s all part of the fun! Get your knitwear ready because no Christmas family photo is complete without a festive jumper.
